About Us

Dr. Deanna Baker is a 2011 graduate of the University of Illinois College of Veterinary Medicine. She received her undergraduate degree from Mississippi Valley State University where she competed in Division I softball following playing for Reidland throughout high school.

Dr. Baker took ownership of Beagle’s Bay Animal Hospital (formerly known as Martell Animal Clinic) in January 2021, and now resides with her husband and twin sons in Metropolis. Dr. Baker is a native of Paducah, Ky., and her husband of Champaign, Ill., so having the opportunity to move to Metropolis feels like a homecoming to both.

Dr. Baker enjoys the personal aspects of veterinary medicine and getting to know her clients and their “furry family members” she gets to take care of. Being able to enjoy this while owning her own veterinary clinic is a lifelong dream come true.

Dr. Baker currently has three cats. She loves dogs, but recently lost her beloved rat terrier. She’s hoping to add another dog into the mix in the future.

Dr. Deanna Baker and her staff are dedicated to providing high quality veterinary services in the Metropolis area. It’s important to us that your pet will be treated with loving care as if they were our own pets. Your pet is a member of your family, and we respect and celebrate that fact.
